Existing Building

The first step for any new business desiring to occupy an existing building in Milford is to complete a Certificate of Use application and submit the form to the Planning Department at 180 Vickers Drive for review before signing a lease.  If you've already signed a lease, a Certificate of Use is still required, along with a City of Milford Business License.

The Certificate of Use is a coordination tool used to determine the following;

  1. If the proposed use is compliant with the City’s zoning ordinance;
  2. Does the proposed use meet the parking requirements of the zoning code; and,
  3. Whether a commercial building permit and State agency approvals are needed for the issuance of a new Certificate of Occupancy.
